Hamilton 6th Grade Summer Reading

Summer Reading (you may use Learning Ally)  You must read a total of 2 books and

write a one-paragraph summary (5-7 sentences) for each book

Required Book #1: Choose one of these books to read and write a one-paragraph

summary to hand to Mr. Rennie on the first day of school 

• Bloom, by Kenneth Oppel

• City of Ghosts, by V.E. Schwab

• City Spies, by James Ponti

• A High Five for Glenn Burke, by Phil Bildner

• The Truth as Told by Mason Buttle, by Leslie Connor

Required Book #2:  An independent reading book of your choice. Please write a one-paragraph summary to hand to Mr. Rennie on the first day of school.

Hamilton 7th Grade Summer Reading 2023-2024

• Students will read three (3) books (print book and Learning Ally or audiobook).
• Students write a summary paragraph for each book (typed, print at home or school).
• Students might read one book a month (June, July, August) to keep a reading routine.
• Language Arts (REQUIRED)-
• Read two RIMSBA Nominees, 2024. (print books and/or Learning Ally, Sora, Audible)
• History (REQUIRED)
• Talking Leaves, by Joseph Bruchac (print book and or Learning Ally, Sora, Audible

Hamilton 8th Grade Summer Reading 2023-2024

• Students will read two (2) books of the four books for language arts (print book and Learning Ally or audiobook).
• Students write a summary paragraph for each book (typed, print at home or school).
• Students might read one book a month (June, July, August) to keep a reading routine.
• Language Arts (2 books are required)
• Bridge to Terabithia, by Katherine Paterson
• One Crazy Summer, by Rita Williams-Garcia
• Bomb: The Race to Build and Steal The World's Most Dangerous Weapon, by Steve Sheinkin and Nick Bertozzi (graphic novel)
• Invisible by Christina Diaz Gonzalez and Gabriela Epstein (graphic novel)
• History (required)
• Know Your Rights by Laura Barcella
• Audible / Sora App / Learning Ally
