About Flipster:

Flipster provides electronic versions of current print periodicals. These issues are eaily browsable but also searchable. The service allows multiple users to read the same issue simultaneously.

Classroom use

DEAR time with devices.

Legally provide copies for all students of a recently published article.

Students can browse various magazines from past issues (back to 2015 for many) to explore cultural shifts during this time.

As this is an EBSCO service, academic searches in our EBSCO databases provide the option to view in Flipster which provides an additional way to read an article.

About Overdrive:

Middle & Upper School, use Google Single Sign On ; Lower School, use Library ID (Lunch number)

Both the Overdrive and Sora app platforms provide ebooks and audiobooks that can be downloaded onto your own reading device, computer, or smart phone. The Prescott Library collection of titles is specifically curated for reading initiatives at the Wheeler School.

Classroom use

Provides additional copies of Rooster Games, Quahog Cup, and English class titles.

Encourage children and parents to listen to audiobook titles together.

Allow students immediate access to titles on their own device while within your classroom.

The SORA App is designed specifically to encourage reading for students.

The Overdrive App allows users to search multiple libraries for ebooks and audiobooks, greatly increasing access to titles for you and your students.

About TrueFlix:

TruFLIX provides browsable video and print materials on a variety of non-fiction topics. Geared to Lower and Middle School students, and primarily focused on science and history, this resource includes information on geography, ecosystems, biographies, and animals.

Classroom use

Lesson plans are provided for each topic.

Simultaneous use of the same non-fiction books.

Break a class into different groups based on books available of the topic.

The "Read to Me" feature allows students to read along, and even change the pace of the reading voice.

Every topic includes a video, book, activities, weblinks, project ideas, and further ways to explore a topic.
